AITWN offers a holistic approach to supporting women businesses in Agriculture, Fashion, Energy and Light Manufacturing.

We offer a complete bundle of services, using a market-based model that helps our organization remain financially sustainable and expand to reach more and more women businesses in Africa.

We offer training and capacity building as well as facilitation for market entry and expansion the sectors. We support processing businesses, logistics and small and medium businesses with distribution and financing of women SMEs.

We promote trade and investment for economic growth across Africa. One way we do this is that we proffer solutions for exporters, importers, foreign and Africa based investors to realize their economy development dreams.

We build sustainable structures to foster women business to business and business to customer across all continents. We also help to build a sustainable communities thereby empowering women business owners to succeed via capacity development, information exchange and promoting networking. We work our members to develop hands-on solutions that can solve immediate challenges they face on a day to day basis and encourage their participation in international trade in line with best practices.

Our Programs

At AITWN, our focus on empowering women is achieved by the following programs

Capacity Building

  • Education and training for women's economic empowerment, and to deliver courses to large numbers of women in both urban and rural locations via communication networks.
  • Programmes for women to encourage self-confidence, advocacy and negotiation skills.
  • Making marketable and profitable designs and prototypes available to female entrepreneurs through international agencies.
  • Publicizing the central role of women in national economies and of "success stories" of female entrepreneurs through a wide range of media, to assist in changing public attitudes towards women's involvement in economic decision-making and encourage women to become entrepreneurs.
  • Training in digital marketing, export development and joint venture promotion for female entrepreneurs and relevant associations.

Mentoring

Most women have insufficient technical knowledge, lack adequate funding for business expansion, are not prioritized in employment and training opportunities, and are not involved in consultations preceding project implementation and decision-making along the various sectors value chain. ATWN is focused on mentorship to boost business activities.

Strengthening African Women Network

  • Formation and strengthening of networks of female entrepreneurs in influencing all levels of policy formulation.
  • Advocacy to ensure inclusion of women's economic empowerment as a goal of all major international economic agreements.
  • Recognition of the effectiveness of modern information technologies in developing and promoting cooperation, particularly regionally and internationally.
  • Increased participation of female entrepreneurs in existing networks, such as chambers of commerce and industry, Government structures, major regional and international trade and financial structures.

Access to credit and finance

  • To encourage existing financial institutions to extend credit to women as well as youth in all sectors of the economy. Development of mechanisms to provide collateral for loans for women without individual resources.
  • Promotion of microfinance schemes, including group financing without collateral and savings/credit facilities, within the framework of experience about the need for careful planning, well-trained scheme staff and effective monitoring to ensure success.
  • Training entrepreneurs in financial accounting, management accounting, risk management and how to access credit facilities.
  • Mentoring entrepreneurs on the mechanisms to provide collateral for loans for women without individual resources.
  • Creation of awareness of the microfinance schemes, including group financing without collateral and savings/credit facilities, with effective monitoring to ensure success.

Access to Management, marketing skills and Technology

  • Promotion of improvements in technologies to prepare, process and preserve food to aid women as the primary food producers and significantly improve their economic conditions.
  • Provision of mechanisms to assist women to use modern information technology, including appropriate technological know-how, to access essential global information and market their businesses internationally.
  • The establishment of "incubator centres" as single places at which female entrepreneurs can obtain a wide range of training, information and services and at which their businesses can be nurtured.
  • Mentoring of younger and less-advantaged women.
  • To build on women's existing technological capacity and utilize local research and development resources.

Advocacy
