AITWN  is an Acronym for  Africa International Trade Women Network, it started  with a  host of challenges such as limited access to export training, market information and finance in addition to other barriers women face in the business environment.

However,  It is widely recognized that women entrepreneurs across Africa are generating employment and adding value to exports in innovative ways. This necessitated the coming  together of some  group of women  from distant locations who shared   similar  vision, objectives  and career  to  network with other  women involved in international trade.

  •  It was established in  2020 as a global nonprofit organization registered under the corporate affairs commission , empower  women and  increase business activities internationally, especially across Africa  for  economic Growth and development.
  • AITWN  network connection comprises  of women and men sharing knowledge, mentoring peers and youth with other countries.
  • We are focused on  providing economic and social development training that
empowers women to earn and save money, live healthier lives, participate in decision
making in their homes , communities and connect other women in strength and solidarity.
  • We directly align with SDG goal number 5 and 7 to achieve gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls. However, we believe women are central to every one of the SDGs. Discover how our work drives progress toward the SDGs of ending poverty, eradicating hunger, improving health, promoting equitable economic growth, ensuring education for all, and supporting inclusive, peaceful societies.
  • AITWN would be instrumental in empowering women by addressing the skills gap and connecting them to markets, corporates and financing opportunities.

The African regional blocs

1.East African Community (EAC),
2. Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS),
3.Southern African Development Community (SADC),
4.Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS)

  • South Africa and Nigeria are the first and second largest exporters respectively of the African continent. African merchandise trade has risen faster than those of the developed and developing economies. However, the continent still accounts for a very low share of international trade. The structure and pattern of trade vary significantly by products and regions. undoubtedly, trade has come with both benefits and daunting challenges to the countries involved especially African nations where primary and intermediate merchandise formed a substantial share of exports .The advanced and newly industrialized economies have better technological know-how, manufacturing industries, access to finance and Market.
  • For the  frequent global oil crunch , other raw products are a wake-up call for a rapid industrialization and diversification for competitiveness in Africa. The world trade organization (WTO) has to ensure that defensive trade remedies should not be the next frontier of protectionism. The Trade, growth and development needed to move African countries to the next level would be better  stimulated via intra-African trade pact Agreement.
